Re: MAS 46-51

Very nice indeed. Here is the most detailed write up I've seen on the MAS-36 and it's variants.

Re: value and interest of 49/56

There are multiple factors. $1,000 right now is highly unlikely. Only French MAS-49 Non Syrian Contracts (I don't believe there was a Syrian Contract 49/56) see those prices, or a MSE MAS-49/56. If it is original it will command more than a refurb. Most are refurb. Matching is a must with either. Pr...

I too am a fan of 7x57 and South American Mausers. I especially like the crests. Nice shooting

If your in it cheap and it shoots well enjoy it. I think it is a put together fantasy piece.

Re: Vz 24 with potential German markings.

The Sling does not look correct. Neither do the Waffenampts on the rifle. I think someone bought some stamps from Poland.

Re: MAS .308 conversions

Buy the original 7.5 French. If you already have one in .308 and don't want to sell it there was a guy who used to make an adjustable gas system that supposedly fixed a lot of the problems.

Re: a few Spanish/Latin American Rifles

The FR-7 and FR-8 are 7.62x51mm both CETME and NATO is fine to shoot in them. .308 I would not use. I need a matching FR-8. I sold my bolt matching FR-7 but I did like it. Also need a Brazilian Mauser M968 Mosquefal. The Madsen, M968, FR-7, and FR-8 are all similar. Cool looking military bolt rifles...

I tried that. I didn't think they would have an issue with it being it is $5 more than the second high bidder.
