Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Shrapnel hit type 38 carbine

I have a Finnish 91/30 with similar issues. When I git it a literal chunk of metal was sticking out of the side of stock just in front of the trigger area. It also had several blood drops on the barrel and bolt area. Kind of weird if these things could tell the stories. I cleaned up the stock leavin...

Re: Bayonet Quiz

One end to the other
A 1903 Springfield or Remington or ....
A Mosin 91/30
I could get most of the answers, but I figured that was my most correct answer :)

Quite in here

It's pretty quiet around here. Does nobody buy or shoot guns anymore?

Motorcycle carry

Any of you guys carry while riding your motorcycles? I do pretty regularly, but am considering a shoulder holster set-up - anybody use one?

Re: Online giveaway rifles

I've heard of and seen pictures of winners, but I have never personally met or heard of anyone who has met one!
Raffles are a completely different story!

I've seen those and something about it doesn't make me easily trust it.

My guess is that if they were of a desirable caliber they got used!

Re: Winchester Garand...UPDATE POST#9

The longer you wait the higher the price will eventually be. The price of these will never go down. CMP is about the cheapest way you can go. The gun show vendors around here seem to be pretty proud of their rifles :)

Re: Late war M44 correct finish

Should be done with t by now, but the correct finish for nearly all pre-war and war time Russian rifles was shellac. It's possible yours could have been restocked, but ...... reworks were nearly all shellacked

Re: New to Me M39

I've always had issues of which were the best between my Finns and Swiss rifles. I guess since I own many more Finns, they get the edge.
That's a pretty nice looking "B" barrel. I hope it shoots a s good as it looks for you!

Valmet 150 Standard model target or 1950 Marlin 39 can't choose. And you thought I would say Suhl 150 ;)
Wow, I see you're as much of a rookie here as I am. Kind of a shock, huh?
And no, the Valmet is no surprise!

Some refinishing videos

I thought I'd share a few videos I made a few years ago. Thanks to the Candyman for teaching me a few things. These aren't much, but cover the basics of cleaning and refinishing. The Mossberg "victim" had a couple things done to it additionally that never got documented. I actually ended up using a ...

Re: Survival Situation

I've got a Mossberg .22 that I tweaked and a ton of ammo. It's light weight and the ammo is compact and light. Not near as good as the Garand's 30-06, but dang all that would get heavy after a while!
