Pull the barrel off and see if the serial number on it matches the receiver. Like I said above, I've seen several of these guns with only the 1 "M" year date code instead of the double stamped "M". IIRC, most or all of them were early 1943 guns with a B month code for Jan. or an A month code for Mar...

Don't know if it's an error or not. But I can tell you I have seen several Model 11as made during WWII that only had the one M for the date code. One of these guns was a brand new in the box riot gun that had never been issued.
