Re: 1961 East German Makarov

They do indeed make a lovely carry gun. Reliability is as good as you could want. I think the Mak is really one of the best of the guns in this size range and caliber.
It's a nice balance of all the factors that make a good companion piece for EDC.

Re: Romanian M1969 Trainer Rifle questions

In short, are these worth it? As with anything it depends on what you want and what it costs. They are a functional .22 bolt gun with no frills.. In general, are these accurate rifles? I recall an article on this subject in which the author fired Eley subsonic target ammo worth almost as much as the...

Re: Had to replace a Krag rear sight

Would the drift adjustable 1903 base work on a 98 Krag? It's a Bannerman with an 03 bbl.
Seems like it would be a pretty sweet setup.

Does this apply to the Ishapore also, i.e. does it take the same bolt heads??

Re: How many hours of work to make a Mauser Receiver

"Not so many years ago Remington was importing and selling M98 copies (complete hunting rifles) from Yugoslavia."
This is the MK-X, which Remington called the 798.

Re: Mosin Warhorses

Does the commentariat agree that a MN that was around during the War years probably was fired in anger? The Russians didn't have enough of anything to waste it, especially rifles.

Re: My sporter Krag

Lovely carbine. Looks like a Bannerman. These make a really nice Jaegerkarbine - relatively light, accurate, smooth operation. The Bannerman looks close enough to an original that nobody but a Krag lover would see the difference, but not too valuable to shoot. Take that beauty out for some sun and b...

Right up there with the Gyrojet as one of the ugliest guns ever made, but what beautiful acquisition.

Re: Nagant revolver

One thing you don't often see as an actual useful attribute of the Nagant is its ability to shoot several old low power revolver calibers. When people are trading potatoes for .22lr rds. and there ain't any more Pow-R-Ball or SXT down at Cabela's the ability to shoot .32 Colt and S&W Short and Long ...
