Re: ESSENTIAL M1 GARAND

Still have some available for dedicated/autographed distribution. More than list, unfortunately. $25 shipped media mail. Short inscriptions ONLY, nothing political or very detailed. Almost no one can read my handwriting. Indeed, after I croak, it will be the illegibility of the handwriting which def...

Final big edit is completed. It appears proofreading and typeset are done or nearly so.

Latest it should be on hand is January 2020.

Re: PALADIN PUBLISHING is going belly up! My books will go out of circulation/print...

Looks as if the new book, now just past its fourth overall, third MAJOR edit, will actually be in print and online 10/22.

The color images are very nice, indeed.

Re: Picked up a Garand faked National match

A "fake" would involve a lot more marking. And considerable misrepresentation. That's just an accurized late M1, and it looks like a rather nice one. The "T" marking appears on all targeted rifles, and by 1955, that was a very large percentage of production. Moreover, the lack of "NM" or a "star" ma...

Re: Garand found locally. Educate me, please.

Depending upon price, might be a very good rifle.

Gauges on the barrel will make a huge difference.

It's all been refinished, surely at least a couple of times.

Oh. When the barrel is changed (and I'd use a civilian one, preferably in .308!!) that big import mark goes away.

Re: ESSENTIAL M1 GARAND

Added some shots. Found some errors, very small, which have been addressed.

It's interesting how different it looks. And it's 100 pages longer than the old 2-volume combination.

Re: PALADIN PUBLISHING is going belly up! My books will go out of circulation/print...

essential intro first snippet pre-production.jpg I was incorrect. The two M1 books will be a rather nice single volume, very reasonably priced, with lots of interior color. It won't be out until some time this year, could be as late as September. The machine gun book will be considerably later, if ...

Re: ESSENTIAL M1 GARAND

This photo got kind of in the wrong place. I was always very pleased with myself for doing this and catching the particulars, using a foot switch on my motor drive film camera. Hey! It was about 1985. If there were digital still cameras around then at all, I didn't have one!! Jim M1 Angeles National...

ESSENTIAL M1 GARAND

Looks as if the revivification of the old two-volume set is going to be complete, soon. Sort of hope it's a "resurrection" rather than the release of a "zombie". Even with all the updates, the old duo was never quite what the original concept ws supposed to be. Some links to the Skyhorse book, THE E...

Re: .308 49/56 again

Great ideas! I gave up on mine. Had owned one apparently converted in France, sold it, and very stupidly figured the Century concoction would work similarly. Mistake!! At about that time, the 7.5 brass became available at rational prices, and I even reloaded, for an article that ran in GUN WORLD, so...

Re: 7.62MM Garand

In the late sixties, 7.62mm. barrels started to show up at gun shows for peanuts. That's where I was introduced to the cartridge in that rifle. It was also about that time I was advised by a couple of old 'smiths that the " .308" was actually far closer in size to the original .276 Pedersen Center F...

Looks as if all 3 books will be back in ink and e-book forms by the end of 2018.
