Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: 1891 M91 eyeballs jumped out it's so nice

Sounds like a great find! The guns were good catches too. :handgestures-thumbup: "Wood & steel" I'm one with you there! I think the only long-arm I have with plastic, is my IMI- 5.56 Galil. I carried the M16A1 back in the day and it just totally ruined me for any AR. Academically I know they are mu...

Re: 1891 M91 eyeballs jumped out it's so nice

Some years back my wife and daughter were out and about. They stopped by a gun shop, she finds a rifle, puts it on layaway for me and tells me about it. So after her describing it to me I'm thinking it's a M91. Well the next month we pick it up, yeah it's a M91 with a twist. It's an 1894 Izhevsk rec...

AKM Pistol Grip Screw

So, I'm trying to get this straight and right the first time.  The screw that comes with the stock WASR pistol grip doesn't work with the milsurp pistol grip.  Are all AK platform milsurp pistol grip screws created equal?  Can I use the nut plate that is on the WASR already with a milsurp screw?  Wh...

Re: In Praise of the Gew 1888

Cool! Three regiments worth of service in your rifle before going to the Turks! Neat bayonet. Got the rifle in Aug 2012 for $200.00 and found the bayonet for $35.00 on ebay not long afterwards. The rifle came with the cleaning rod and I got a awesome repro sling on the rifle, couldn't believe my lu...

Re: In Praise of the Gew 1888

I've got a Turked, 1890 Danzig Gew 88/05, still has a German barrel. Also have an ersatz bayonet on it, the repop bayonet frog came on the bayonet when I got it. The rifle still has the Turkish script on the rear sight. Has a German bolt (Not a Czech replacement) with a Tuskish moon on it, and of co...

Reproduction M91 Handguards

Was looking around on ebay for the ever elusive handguard for a Finnish M24 and found reproduction M91 handguards. Would work great for those that have M91's with missing handguards. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Mosin-Nagant-M91-Handguard-MADE-IN-USA/254392457131?hash=item3b3af8d7ab:g:-7oAAO...

Re: Buying first surplus rifle, what to look for

Note, be sure to understand how to use a no-go gauge, go gauge, muzzle gauge etc. They are great tools WHEN you know how to use them. I see so many posts on the various firearm forums, where people are confused with the results, or on how to use them etc. A little knowledge goes a long way, and is a...

Re: WASR 10 Furniture Swap

I don't know what the yellow/blonde wood is, but it is light as heck weight wise. I was going to weigh the two buttstocks for comparison, but I got excited and wanted to get the new furniture installed, so I forgot to weigh it, a duh moment on me. The bayonet won't slide onto the bayonet lug, checke...

Re: WASR 10 Furniture Swap

Much better, looks like an AK now. Bingo I agree, the only thing I didn't swap out was the pistol grip. The hole in the milsurp one is smaller than the one in the US made one. So I think I would have to get a different screw to do that. Picked up the 4 piece furniture set from Atlantic Firearms. ht...

WASR 10 Furniture Swap

I wanted it to represent what the bad guys were carrying before I retired. Picture taken before I gave her a complete wipe down and put back into the closet. I think she looks better now. The handguards were easy as pie, the buttstock gave me a run for my money.Took an hour to get the buttstock off....

Re: Help with finding who posted this.

BINGO See PM, unfortunately it is part of a porvenienced collection going to a local historical society. I traded 2 vintage ford trucks to save this collection. It was being parted out at an antique store and I got most but missed the uniform and hat. Sold before I realized the collections signific...

Help with finding who posted this.

Back in 2016, I cross posted to another site seeking additional information, on the following items that a member here had posted. Here's my post from the other site, made on 13 Jan 2016, hopefully it will ring a bell with someone here. Was it normal during WWII for aircrews to keep a memento from a...
