Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Trump Moves to Ban Bump Stocks

Maybe he knows it will be challenged in court but he can rightfully fall back on, "We looked into it but this takes an act of Congress." He loses nothing that way and forces Congress to act or not.

12 Strong

I read Horse Soldiers a year or so ago and knew it would make a great film. 12 Strong did not disappoint. Interestingly enough, the book's author lives in Traverse City, Michigan: not all that far from my own hometown. I highly recommend both the novel and the film.

Re: Cold enuff for you?

Thermometers are for chumps. It's January in Northern Michigan. Nothing new. Having said that, I must admit: wearing flip flops to go outside to start my jeep was not one of my smarter moves.

Re: VLADIVOSTOK

Two Marines in my platoon were part of a dog and pony show sent to Vladivostok from Okinawa during our deployment in 1994. We were serving in Weapons Company 1/7. I was slated to go as well but got cut from the roster two days before departure. They sailed aboard the USS Dubuque. The biggest part of...

Welcome Devil Dog. Good plan but shoot that rifle a few times at least. That model served our Marine forefathers for a long time.

My colleague took his life two weeks ago. Gambling and debt combined with hidden depression is the best we can figure. Third co-worker to commit suicide in last 15 years. It really sucks making the notifications.

Nice rifle. Wondered if it came from Hampels as I saw 3 or 4 nice ones there last spring.

Re: End of an era?

That is sad. I marched in the Cherry Parade as a Boy Scout when I was 12: still plenty of the Greatest Generation back then (1984.) I can remember, when I was a small child, WWI veterans in our towns Memorial Day parades (Alanson, Michigan.) Yeah, they were up there in years, but still marched!

That's awesome! I had the honor of serving in 1/7 in the 1990's: The Magnificent 7th has one of the proudest legacies of any Regiment in the entire Corps. Semper Fi!
