Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: m-1 Carbine questions

So, it was possible for M-1 Carbines to be still fielded by units into1979? 1982? troops started to be pulled out of viet nam shortly after the peace treaty was signed in 1973. don't forget, not every M16s came out of VN, a whole bunch was left for the SVN. so whatever M16 came out were either put ...

Re: m-1 Carbine questions

I wonder how long it took to switch units from M-1s to M-16s. it probably took several years, rifles had to go back through Anniston or other arsenals to be refurbish and checked, from there it would have took a very long and complex trip through the supply chains for it to be fielded to NG units o...

welcome

can't help you on the ammo.

I don't know about the air force, but Army national guard units were still using carbines and Garands during the early 70s, on campus during the VN protesters, so it is very well possible they still had them in the mid to late 70s

Re: M1911 not firing when the hammer drops.

my advice, don't monkey with it, contact ATI tell them the problem you're having and tell them you're sending it back for warranty repair work. let them figure it out and fix it or send you a replacement pistol. you should not have to put your dime or time into a product that should work out of the ...

Re: 1962 Surplus ad, what to get if you had 35 bucks

Lets not forget the flip side of the coin: The average family income in 1962 was just $6670! That works out to $128.27 a week or $3.21 an hour. don't think it was that high, unless you were upper-middle income or had a white collar job. in any event, that was before they took out federal, state and...

I do know for a fact that western texico is choked with tumbleweeds. western half of that state is nothing but desolate desert with small towns every 200 miles between them. I drove across that state, from Ft. Stewart, Ga. to Ft. Bliss in El Paso to attend ANCOC. there were tumble weeds rolling acro...

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out

why? $$$$$$$$, there are still a lot of people in the firearm community that take what these hack "gun writers" write as the "be all and know all "experts"" and manufactures know it. throw some bucks their way and they will write glowing reviews for their product. I recall years ago some hack gun wr...

Re: k31 Overpay or a Steal?

Well, they were $59 at Aim and $79 on Black Friday at Dunhams back around 2005. But they seem to go for crazy prices say around $550-600 at WI gun shows at todays prices. the key word is WERE since they haven't been imported for a very long time, what is here is here, and a lot of folks, like me :)...

Re: k31 Overpay or a Steal?

welcome to the board :)

I wouldn't call it a "steal", you paid a very reasonable price for one, typically they go for 600-650
crack can easily be fixed with some wood glue and a clamp, to keep it from further cracking.

Folks would be surprised to know that a flintlock musket could be reloaded and fired in around ten seconds. . I suppose it can be done with a lot of practice and no one is shooting at you. now, let me line up a bunch of people opposite of you and have them shooting at you, while you are standing th...

guns and stupid people are never a good mix

every year several "Einsteins" get shot and killed testing "bulletproof" vest. the only thing that I hope for is that they didn't breed and brought in another generation of morons and idiots polluting the gene pool.

Re: Is this authentic? What's its story? What's it worth?

like any antique which what this pistol is, if you go sanding and polishing things up (and yes BRASSO is a cleaner and polisher) and make it look like it was just made yesterday, what you do is diminish the value of that piece substantially by taking away the patina and the bruise and bumps it has h...

Re: Is this authentic? What's its story? What's it worth?

it's a Model 1842 DRAGOON Pistol. can't see when it was made you cut the back side of the lock where the date would be

if it is real, it looks to me it just might be, someone polished up the brass and refinished the wood, which I would believe would hurt value tremendously

sporterized Swedish Mauser.

not much to say about it , someone took a military M96 Swedish Mauser 6.5x55mm and made into a "hunting rifle"

why was the barrel threaded? only the person that did that would know. silencer? possibly?
