Re: Scope ring torque

here is what I did to secure the upper half of the scope ring to the lower half of the scope ring, I put a bit of non permanent LOC-TITE on the threads and snugged it up tight to the lower half. that was over 20 years ago and it hasn't budged http://pic20.picturetrail.com:80/VOL1715/11951772/2124321...

Re: Bulgarian Makarov

It was described as a Bulgarian Makarov I was asking the OP, he said it's dated 1979, Bulgarians didn't engrave the year on any of their MAKAROVs. you can only deduce that by the year code. only the soviets and E german engraved the year on their pistols. the soviet either the entire year ie. 1976 ...

Re: HK91/G3 Mags conversion for CETME

Had two CETME's. H&K mags were a hit/miss in each. Some worked, some didn't. CETME mags worked fine in my CAI faux G3. My CETMEs were early CAI builds with cast stainless rcvrs. I have the same kind of rifle, early CAI G3 cast SS that I bought in 1999, and which I still have  and CETME mag...

Re: Classic Firearms sks

I did not know they were around as early as 1994. Who imported them that early? Century? yeah, they were around in 94, and yep it was imported by CENTURY the import stamps where light stamped on the bottom of the barrel, I bought them from a dealer at a gun show when I was stationed at Ft. Carson i...

Re: Classic Firearms sks

I actually picked up a nagant revolver about 7 years ago from family firearms at a Dayton gun show. He was super cool to talk to and it was a mint looking piece. That’s another gun I wish I still had and prices were still $130 haha I bought 3 of them when they first came in 94. for 50 bucks ea., pe...

Re: Corrosive M2 ?

I still have plenty of the CMP marked boxes, I bought from the NORTH STORE :). these rounds were delinked from metal belts, they all have discoloration around the casing

I read that the only M2 that is "corrosive" was the Korean ammo with a lot number starting with KA(?)

Re: What do you do when you run out of TP?

And no, I didn't flush any of this. I bagged it for the trash. I remember clearly after DESERT STORM we moved into KHOBAR TOWERS while we waited to be flown back to the states, the toilets in the apts we couldn't throw the TP in, the bathroom plumbing wouldn't be able to handle it, they were not fo...

Re: Ammo is getting scarce.................

let me see, people had longer then 4 years to buy ammo/guns when the gun/ammo market was basically dead in the water, and it was a buyers market shopping for the best price and to stack it deep. this isn't he first time that panic buy has happened, it's been going on for as long as I was collecting ...

Re: need part name

I had a yugo 59/66 that had a slight up and down movement, what I did was glued some very thin pieces of wood (shims) on the bottom "cut outs" of the upper hand guard. if you look at your upper hand guards, you'll see there will be a slight gap between that and the stock, that how mine was pretty su...

Re: Counterfeit Parts

yes, lot of counterfeit parts are out there, besides the web sites like AMAZON, EBAY etc... they are all over the tables at gun shows. if you know what the things to look for in the packaging and the products itself before you buy, you will save yourself some money and headaches. educated yourself, ...

Re: Bulgarian Makarov

are you sure it's Bulgarian? Bulgarians didn't year stamp their MAKAROVS. you have to decode the serial number prefix to see when it was made- 19 would be year code

Re: U.S. Tableware Outfit, Field

it's a officers' field mess kit. these things date back when the roman legions marched . I can tell you without any doubts it was "pilfered' :D. which is not uncommon for soldiers to be "pilfering" military equipment, soldiers have been pilfering since the roman army and it will continue until the e...
