Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Carcano bayonet channel

forgot to add that I remember seeing a Carcano at a show (Tulsa???) several years ago and the bayonet grove was filled, I swear I do not remember anything about the gun, caliber, etc. I had assumed it was more common than what it may be..

Re: Carcano bayonet channel

That is to make room for the Folding Bayonet.. A very nice accessory.. The Bayonet was discontinued because it was very expensive to make.. So they did fill in the wood groove like the French did with their Berthiers when the got rid of the long removable "cleaning" rod/stacking rod

$ value is such a impractical way to judge a collectors items, The story behind the item is so much better..

It certainly does have that new "old gun" feel all surplus weapons have to me. Can't wait to get to range with it, think I'll put her through the paces against my 1917 USGI S&W revolver.
That will be nice..

I highly recommend the Mark IV, the ease of disassembly is mind-boggling compared to the earlier Marks.
Both pistol look very nice... But please elaborate on what makes it easier...???

I like the stag grips also..

Nice, when was your Tanter made?? .577 pistol ammo is one of the few rounds that makes a 45 round look malnourished.

Re: Picked this up. Thoughts?

I have no idea why I'm so curious about the life of this rifle, I just am :-). Must be the dreary Winter here in Wisconsin. Spavac The coin dates from 1951, Who ever chrome plated it had to have spent some money doing it.. My guess is a vfw honor guard or something of that flavor. You are not the o...

Re: Picked this up. Thoughts?

. The R broad arrow F on the left side of the action certainly has significance. The broad arrow (according to a quick Google search) refers to ownership by the British government. I couldn't find a reference to the R and F perhaps the Royal Fusiliers? There's bound to be an Anglophile on the forum...
