Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: R. FAMAGE pawnshop-sporter project

Thanks, gents. I'll get out to the range one of these days and post some targets. Meanwhile, I've acquired a better , more hunting-appropriate scope. With the 40mm objective bell, it will probably have to be mounted on higher rings, but at least I should be able to put the sight leaf back in place. ...

Re: AFriend in need is a Friend in deed!

Congrats on adding a K31 to the collection. And what a great story behind the acquisition. Perhaps you should think about changing the title of your thread to Friends in need, emphasizing the plural. Regarding your question, have you tried posting this info over at SRDCdotcom? There's a recent threa...

Re: Affordable K31 Diopter Sights & Scope Mounts?

The clamp-on mount you linked in your post is the real McCoy. Swiss Products make a number of very high quality aftermarket add-ons for the Swiss rifle family. I use the K31 scope mount and the K11/G1911 scope mount. (The latter is more fiddly than the former, but once in place it's rock solid). Swi...

Re: R. FAMAGE pawnshop-sporter project

Put a scope on the R. FAMAGE last night, a Lyman All-American fixed 4X given to me by a friend who no longer shoots. Mounted with low Burris Zee rings, the scope sits nice and close to the barrel, and allows for a pretty decent cheek weld. First, though, I had to remove the rear sight leaf. 11.jpg T...

Re: Noob Question: Fitting Bent Bolt to Receiver

Looks like you did a good job! I just got a beater, bubba'd (is this a word??) No 4Mk1* on which I will attempt to commit refurb. As I am tool-challenged, never had the nerve to attempt butchery before--figure this one can't be made worse than it already is. Thanks! It was a bit nerve-wracking, I w...

Re: Swedish m96/38 pawnshop sporter

Very nice carbine! Any Chance that the rifle was once a 94 Carbine? The discolored area in the original rear sight location looks too short for the m38 rear sight base. I didn't think so, but my ignorance in these matters is nearly boundless. I'll post a photo of the receiver markings when I can. -...

Re: R. FAMAGE pawnshop-sporter project

So, I notched the receiver to fit the bent bolt handle (using input from a Larry Potterfield video and an assortment of files and fine sandpapers). 2.jpg 7.keeper.jpg Then I notched the stock using a couple of knives and a different assortment of files and sandpapers. (Of course, I treated the cut w...

Re: Noob Question: Fitting Bent Bolt to Receiver

Got my answer from Larry Potterfield, as noted above. Results:

Used an assortment of files and some 400- and 600-grit sandpaper.

More on this at my R.FAMAGE thread (listed above).

Thanks for looking!
