Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Remember that gunsmith-counterbored Venezuelan mauser?

Shot this target today for the 50-yard "postal" match, using those fat 154-grainers from Buffalo Arms. Pleased with the result.

Re: Spring/Summer 50 yard Milsurp Shoot.

So, I went to the range today with my Venezuelan Heartbreaker (link: https://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=372 ) and a couple of other 7x57 Mausers. Weather was muggy and 76 degrees. Negligible wind. After finishing the work with the others (testing handloads using 175-grain RNSPs), ...

Re: Spring/Summer 50 yard Milsurp Shoot.

I would like to shoot my Venezuelan heartbreaker in this match, if you'll allow it. (Read about it here: https://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=372 ). Now, I did have the Vene counterbored (as detailed in the thread referenced above), but it's out of the bedded stock and back into the...

Re: Any Interest in a Sporters / Hunters Postal Match?

Maybe the course of fire should be 2 off hand and 3 from a supported position? Or maybe keep it at ten rounds, 8 supported (field positions) and two offhand? I'm spoiled, I guess, by Alabama's long deer season, but I very rarely shoot at game offhand. If I can't find a tree to brace on, or take a k...

Re: Lee FCD for 8x56R at MidwayUSA

That’s odd. When I bought the die set the FCD was included. Glad you got one though. Reloading for M95’s is handy. They kick hard so you can alleviate that by dropping the charge a bit. When I bought my set, maybe 5 years back, it came with just the sizing die and the seating die. Couldn't find an ...

Lee FCD for 8x56R at MidwayUSA

I had given up looking for a Lee FCD for my Steyr M95 (Lee doesn't offer them on their website) . . . and then I got a marketing email from Midway informing me that they had said die on sale for about $12. Yes, I jumped on it. Shipping was $4.99 to my location. Thought inquiring minds might want to ...

Advice on annealing--and YouTube posts to evaluate

So, I've been reloading for a few years, but have yet to take on annealing brass. I've read a lot of internet lore--often conflicting--about the process, and think I've identified the basics needed for safe, affordable, manageable, and effective brass annealing. I went on YouTube and pulled down a c...

Any Interest in a Sporters / Hunters Postal Match?

Just curious. I have a couple of nice sportered Mausers (pawn shop finds) and two or three no-alterations-needed scoped rifles, otherwise unmolested. I have hunted (and put meat on the table) with all of them.

Would anyone be interested in a Postal Match focusing on this class of surplus rifle?

Re: Renewal

I'm renewing mine right now. Even though my acquisition rate has slowed to a crawl, I like my dealer account with Graf's too much to give it up. And there's always the off chance that a nice Swedish m96 will need a new home. . . .

Hope so! That's my next project. I bought a bunch of them last spring, but then got distracted by my R. FAMAGE pawnshop sporter fixer-upper.
