Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Vetterli M70/87/15

I shoot mine with reduced loads, and enjoy having it in my collection. Like you, I don't like the idea of having rifles I can't shoot. It's a fun and unique piece, and the looks have really grown on me.

Re: 6.5x52 Carcano - Shell holder of choice?

FWIW, I have used the Lee shellholder exclusively and haven't had a problem. I can't say if it's a factor in my success, but I also use Lee case lube when resizing- a dab between the thumb and forefinger spun along the length of the case neck and body (skipping the shoulder), with the excess then sc...

Hi all - looking for load data for 8x56R using H4895. 208gr SP bullets.
I use H4895 in my 8x56r loads. With 208 grain bullets, 42.6 grains shoots well and chrono'd at 2249 fps from my long M95, For comparison, the 208 grain factory FMJ PRVI load was 2318 fps from the same rifle.

Congrats on a nice pick-up. You can't go wrong with a carbine, I don't think they will ever be out of favor. Classic lines, iconic. Recognized and intuitively "liked" even by non-gun people. And they can still do what they were designed for-- a handy personal defense weapon if ever there was one. I ...

Re: The Enfield Rat Rifle

I like it too--looks all business. Understated with the short magazine, I bet with a 30 rounder I'd find it repellent--like it was trying too hard to be something it's not. Does it shoot well enough to justify the scope, or was that an expedient rather than the hassle of fitting and aligning sights ...

Re: My M95

Were you loading from a clip? If you were attempting to place a round into the chamber (without a clip) and then close the bolt on it, that would cause difficulty even with the right ammo. I believe the serial number on the ball of the bolt handle indicates it saw Bulgarian service, which almost cer...

Re: Why would anyone want an Enfield

I've always liked the "bulldog" snout of the SMLE, sort of fit my idea of the British Bulldog--ugly yet charming in its own businesslike way. I like the aesthetics of the protruding barrel design of the No. 4 more though. And the big old cone of the No. 5? Loved that since the first time I saw one i...

Re: Cavalry Carbine Issue

This is why I like these boards. You get the benefit of others experience. This is all good info. So you ordered the bullet sizer custom made from Lee ?? One other small issue I have with my rifle. A little hard to eject. Meaning I need a little torque to eject the casing. It was the same for facto...

Re: My 1911A1 and M9

People dog those pre-Kahr Auto-Ordnance pistols, and to be sure there were issues with some, but if you have one that works they are a solid gun. A friend of mine has had one for 25 years now. I don't think it has ever malfunctioned. Exactly. There were some minor QC issues, but I think the low pri...

I'm always sort of jealous of guys that can shoot off their back deck. I'm also jealous of that beautiful Swede. Semper Fi!

My 1911A1 and M9

I hope you guys don't mind me re-posting some pics from the old boards. In the Marine Corps I was lucky enough to carry both these great pistols, as my enlistment covered the transition period. I've owned an Auto Ordnance 1911A1 for almost 20 years. It's not the most celebrated milspec-style .45 out...
