Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: JW-15 or ????

It would be interesting to see a profile of the entire stock. Top of receiver looks like CZ to me, as does the rear sight. A now deceased shooting buddy had a China made Norinco marked JW-15 that I had multiple opportunities to shoot. A nice surprise to shoot as accuracy was excellent and it functio...

Thank you for posting about Archive.org. I have been on the Internet since 2001 and had not heard of this site before. More reading and digging.

Boer War et. al. ebooks

Hello guys! I don't post all that much, but, the recent article http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1890 that mentioned how the Boers shot up the Brits a hundred and some years ago reminded me of this. I don't know how many of you are aware of The Gutenberg Project http://www.guten...

Re: 45-70 Wow

I think handloaders have found the ability to improve the .45-70 energy levels to that of the .458 Winchester given the right powders. Of course, at this level a person needs to be careful what gun it is placed in or you and your weapon could be in several pieces after the loud noises stop. A now de...

Re: Stevens Favorite Single Shot

i have a Savage 30G that is a similar design in .22 rf and is excellent in accuracy. A friend had one like your's and as I recall his was in .32 rf short. The Old Western Scrounger carried ammo, a bit high buck though. They are a cool design. The 30 G does not have the nice take down feature of your...

Re: Remington model 700

My nephew has a synthetic stock variant of the M-700 with a heavy barrel chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum with a custom made muzzle brake on the end and a rather expensive Vortex variable power scope with the best reticle I have ever seen. In my old age body parts are not what they once were and ...

Re: Hungarian Weapons Website: 1854-Present

I found that website by accident a couple of years ago while looking for info on a Hungarian .32 acp I was considering for purchase. I suspect there is info available there that cannot be found anywhere else on the web. A good one to bookmark!

Re: Vets I knew

Having my barber shop next to the local VFW Post has given me many stories of Vets that I have known. Before I retired I would start reading my copy of Cornelius Ryan's book, THE LONGEST DAY, the day after Memorial Day and usually have it finished by D-Day between customers at the barber shop. One d...

Re: Family heirloom Gras and bayonet

A great uncle on dad's side had one of these rifles. Dad had possession of it for a few weeks back in the late '60's trying to find ammo for it. Having no luck on that project it went back to the uncle who has since passed. The rifle went to his son, who is now deceased and who sold it to someone. T...
