Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Mosin values

$250 is a decent price for an ex-sniper in my opinion. I see common beaters going for $275 and I rejected a dog of a 1943 izzy 91/30 that someone had painted gray. $300?????

Karabiner 98K volume IIA andvolume IIB

So much info. amazing books. Consider what a matching wartime Mauser costs and consider these books. I bought them individually vol. I and kriegsmodell, then the set of vol IIA and IIB. the complete set goes for $345, but what is the cost of a matching wartime Masuer 98K now a days? Well worth it, I...

Very nice. A triple date. 1944 and 48/51. And a sniper to boot!

Re: Military Surplus k98ks commonly found at gun shows

Wow.Thanks for the very detailed info. I did see one 1941 Portuguese Mauser that had been sent back to Germany and used/marked by the army. It was at cabelas and was $1400. Probably not a bad price. It was in very good shape.

Paul Mauser His Life, Company, and Handgun Development 1838-1914

Just received my copy of this book. Large data base with many copies/translations of documents related to the Mauser company. Expensive, but well worth it, IMHO. It will take quite awhile to digest the info in it. www.amazon.com/Mauser-Company-Handgun-Development-1838-1914/dp/0692755004/ref=sr_1_1?s...

Re: Private gun sale question

See a drivers license of the one purchasing the weapon, at least. Make a copy. A legitimate purchaser will have no problem with it.

Re: Antique status of Lebels

I believe 1898 and before are antiques, smokeless powder or not. I have owned an 1890 GEW (turked) that I bought as an antique, that had been re chambered to 8mm. It shot well with modern privi ammo. And an antiue Mosin or two. They shoot fine with modern 7.62x54r ppu (privi) ammo.

Re: ca. 1905 c96 broomhandle. interesting marks

Update: It does have a worn "NA Co" import mark. I was able to field strip it and get it back together and the internal parts have the last 3 of the serial number on them (forgot to look at firing pin closely). Had some issues getting it back together properly. Could have used 3 hands, haha. have th...

Re: ca. 1905 c96 broomhandle. interesting marks

Thanks! Heck, I bought the dang thing before I even noticed the French marking on the barrel. I guess now I will have to try and scavenge an original stock/holster for a reasonable price. Not likely as originals go for near what I paid for the gun.
