Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

LA Silhouette Club

I found this site a few years back and found it superior to all I've ever seen. These guys seen to know more than the average bear so to say about casting bullets and their knowledge of alloys is unsurpassed. I thought I would post this link for all to see that cast their own bullets. I for one, use...

Heat Treated Cast Bullets

Some information on the LA Silhouette Club, a real shooting club in California, posted some stuff on cast bullet alloy making. It mentioned that alloys with at least 6% antimony can be heat treated in a toaster oven for around one hour and then quenched in water for good results. Has anybody done th...

Re: fn m1922 from 1942?

Nice design by John Moses Browning himself. It is an upgrade from the 1910, which shot the Archduke of Austria and helped start WWI BTW. I find mine shoots very nicely and I've found 32ACP to be an even nicer caliber. I think Browning had a good nack for ergonomics. I have a commercial model in dece...

Re: JFK

I saw a tower experiment with military surplus ammo. All I hear about that ammo is pull the bullets and keep the clips. The tower experiment in the death of admiral Nelson was funny since nobody on the set thought it was possible and yet they proved the historic shot could have happened as the sharp...

Re: First Wave Omaha Beach

27 out of 29 tanks were lost to rough seas according to the show "Drain The Oceans". I have never heard much about how the crews fared. I cannot image they were all inside and without life vests and then again, not much is discussed about crew survival. Not exactly the same as a higgins boat taking ...

Re: To strip or not to strip

I think 72 USMC hit it on the head. I think removing all that paint will be a chore too and ...then what?

Re: JFK

I don't find the term funny anymore as people find it an excuse to believe rather than think. I'd rather think on my own than be told how to.

First Wave Omaha Beach

I found this reading The Atlantic Monthly from an article published in 1960 written by US Army historian S.L.A. Marshall. I've read numerous accounts of the Normandy landings, but this one really captured the worst case scenario Eisenhower and his staff must of considered when planning the invasion....

Re: JFK

These conspiracy people are getting annoying, if not dangerous to a civil society. Not everything was, is, or will be a conspiracy. The easiest explanation usually is true. I do remember one show trying to show Oswalt didn't do it because the ammo they were using didn't go boom so they were convince...

Re: Uss Truman

The Navy lacks the missiles to equip its air groups so that they will be effective in the future. No doubt the littoral warship project wiped out billions for those weapons with little if any results. Trump presently thinks steam catapults on a Ford carrier would be a good idea. The cost to convert ...

Re: Uss Truman

Doubt more than a handful of civilians really know the issues involved with the Truman being decommissioned. Its more than politics, it the way the Navy intends to fight wars or what wars it intends to fight. The Truman merely was next up to have her reactor refitted/refueled, a very expensive proce...

Re: Uss Truman

The latest plans are to overwhelm the defenses with numbers and speed. The airborne laser system hasn't been talked about much, but you cannot keep a 747 on station at sea too long. I think it is effective range is 300 miles, but it is designed to strike rockets in boost phase. 30 missiles tops is i...

I thought people were overcharging for those...I mean anything over $200 seems high.

Re: Uss Truman

I also heard from the deputy sec of defense on GZERO with Ian Bremmer about inadequate range of the carrier air groups combined with a lack of longer ranged/modern stand off weapons, so why keep the Truman commissioned and pay for a multi-billion dollar overhaul if it is no longer a threat to a conv...

Re: Forming and sizing Bertram 43 Beaumont brass

Yeah, Bertram Brass really didn't do its job on this. 43 Beaumont has never been a straight walled cartridge and never will be, but they did engrave the base/rim with "43 Beaumont" anyways. I've heard from another SRF member that he doesn't even accept Bertram Brass as a gift it is so bad. Sorry Ber...
