Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Found a 98/22.

Hardcover. Great for reference, though I've heard there's a few errors. It's been great so far. Makes me want to "catch em all." Lol.

Found some surplus 8mm.

So, hunting the same place I scored the Swede ammo from... I nabbed some of the 8mm in the case. I first thought it all Turkish because cupro-nickel jacketed... While I wasn't wrong about the Turk ammo... There was also Egyptian. Bought some of each. For starters, I know it's berdan primed corrosive...

Re: Vintage Prvi?

That's a neat tidbit of info. Didn't know that. Something new everyday.
On a side note, I cleaned out all there was the other week. :)

Re: 98/22's

I don't think so. It may be a combination of factors such as wrong target audience, lack of knowledge, asking price etc.

I haven't seen many Mauser rifles that are poorly built. I have seen some that have seen seriously hard use over the years. Do you have an ad up?

Re: Found a 98/22.

So I brought it home. Turkish rear sight. One thing I didn't notice is the rear sight was marked in Arabic. Lol. In my excitement, I missed that part. No matter. It is still the first I've seen in a long time. Now mine. It has curved Zbrojovka crest, and V Czech army acceptance mark. Guessing later ...

I've got a mix of Federal blue box, CCI, Federal white 325 pack, and Aguila. I'm sure to get more. I'm an opportunist with .22lr. Lol.

Re: Thinking of a 10/22.

I grew up shooting my dad's Marlin model 60. No beef, great gun. Had a Mossberg 702 Plinkster for a while. Liked it. Picky gun, but hi velocity ammo was its preferred food. Sold it in a tight spot. It was accurate. The 10/22 is home now. Really digging it. Need some BX25 mags for it... Because. Lol....

Found a 98/22.

So I took a buddy shopping today for his first milsurps. He has an interest in Czech weapons. Found him a Cz52 pistol (and showed him how to tear it down, and reassemble), and a sanitized (captured?) Vz24. Strong lands, decent grooves, lots of character. I found one for myself while out. A 98/22. Al...

Re: Help with Prussian Musket.

So... A bunch of googling tells me I've got what was a Potsdam 1809 Marine contract musket. .75 caliber.

Help with Prussian Musket.

So, I know it was a Potsdam musket. I got it at a rendezvous. I traded a project for a project. Lol. It seems someone had cranked it into a Native styled trade gun. Barrel looks shortened. The guy I got it from claimed to have shot turkey with it. I tore it all down, and started scrubbing. Steel woo...

Yup... Layaway, with about 45% down. Pick it up in two weeks. Couldn't say no.

Re: Thinking of a 10/22.

From my experience .22 semi auto rifles/pistols are picky beasts. I had a Mossy Plinkster that really wanted mini mags. Good rifle otherwise. I've seen pistols balk at standard velocity stuff too. Aside from money, and ammo considerations, are there glaring faults to the gun? I haven't really read n...

Thinking of a 10/22.

Title says it. My local store of course sells them. They do layaway. A .22 is lacking in my collection. It's a very utilitarian caliber, and there's a large aftermarket for the model. I'm thinking a base model with wood stock (classic look). Lots of mag options. Though seriously the only upgrade I c...
