Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Aguila Super Extra .22 LR ammunition review

I think it was Shooting Times who did a big test report of 16 or so 22LR loads and they too were surprised that that same HV Aquila 22LR Ammo tested REALLY well. Best of the HV loads IIRC.

Re: Just some underwood goodness

Nice!

I always dismissed them ... due to the rather anemic loading, but was just reading up recently on the excellent terminal performance of the Hornady Critical Defense loading for the M1 Carbine. I bet my Uncle sure wishes he had had some when he was at Chosin!

Re: Battle sights

What we do w/ round front sight blades/pins like the Mosin, or for long, retangular blades like your Swiss arms, is to use good adhesive-lined heatshrink and meld a good 1/4” or longer ‘extension’ up off the existing blade. Trim to fit. If care is taken putting the arm into a case, they have proven ...

Re: CZ ( VZ ) 50 quality question

I’ve seen them recently as low as $220. While I know nothing about them, your friend Ian from Forgotten Weapons just did a review of them from FEB 2018: https://www.forgottenweapons.com/czech-cz-50-pistol-cia-assessment/ Agree that ‘condition dictates price’! Personally I’m not a big fan of the 32AC...

Re: Israeli Mauser No.2

Yes, beech stocks are known for light spots , commonly called in the wood trade as ‘maggots’. Presently I am refinishing a cheap Traditions percussion rifle to give to a kid and the stock is loaded with them. When the stock was light in color - they weren’t that attractive - but I stained it in a Wi...

Re: VZ24 in 7.62, not Israeli marked, but Brazilian Police

Good input, thanks! Believe me ... I would only pick up this one if I could slug & measure the bore and if at a LOW price ... otherwise I’d be smarter putting that $$ towards a real Israeli surplus 7.62 98K. I guess I’m just more curious ... was it truly part of an Israeli sale to So America or is i...

VZ24 in 7.62, not Israeli marked, but Brazilian Police

My local toy store has this for sale, but at $450 on consignment I have more than a few concerns ... I have been reading up on the Czech (made by Brno) VZ24 Mausers, looks like they originally rechambered some to 7.62, but did not mark them in the traditional manner of '7.62' on top of the receiver ...

Re: Annealing brass ?

Can’t be done, brass needs to be work hardened, where heat softens it. That cooling step in some torch annealing methods, where one tips over or drops the case into water isn’t to ‘harden’ it. Rather, the faster brass cools down from ‘hot’, the more completely the alloy anneals. FYI, to extend brass...

Re: M44 Stock - burn in wrist (oy!)

I have used this on black water spots on oak flooring but I have no idea if it will work on black burn marks. Oxalic acid crystals, available in hard crystal in a box at most hardware stores. Mix some crystals with water, use this solution on the stain. Follow the box directions. Let it soak in for...

Re: My experience with TRAIL BOSS POWDER

I tried it, but got similar results you did ... vertical stringing ... for a few calibers tried. I think the charge and amount in the case is too light (small in volume) for an ‘efficient push’ behind the bullet, almost like combusting versus a really fast burn. I feel this leads to the erratic grou...
