Re: M1895 Dutch Mannlicher

Funny I decided to clean up my long rifle last night. Very Nice, What in the Heck does that "L" on the stock stand for its beautiful... I'm not entirely sure but a suggestion from another forum that it may indicate that the rifle was used by the Landstorm which are secondary units (auxilary) I have...

Re: M1895 Dutch Mannlicher

Very nice rifle.

I have a KNIL Hembrug 1921 Long Rifle but not as nice as yours

Mine has that "used and abused" look about it

Re: 1916 Spanish Mauser help ?

Hi Kurt

No need to apologise. There is no better feeling than working it out yourself. And by the way you may have helped someone along the way with the same problem you had.

Re: Cavalry Carbine Issue

Wow great job what a difference! Never knew that some of the new made ammo was the wrong diameter. Is this true for any other calibers. I've had issues with some factory loaded 8mm Lebel that used .323 bullets instead of the correct .327. Those keyholed badly. But Carcanos take the prize for finick...

Re: Cavalry Carbine Issue

NO EXPERT I have no experience with the Italian rifles........ That said, I seem to recall something called " gain twist rifling on some modes. The theory being to speed up the bullet velocity, the last 4 or 5 inches of the bore were given an increased twist For all I know this is an old Italian wi...

Thanks Candyman for a very interesting insight on these training rifles. You don't see them very often.

Re: Carcano Cavlary Carbine

Don't give up looking for one.
They are fun to shoot and yes, they have a healthy bark.
The results from the range are mixed but i think it was more
the shooter than the rifle.

Cheers

Carcano is a M91/24 TS missing the cleaning rod. I have 2 of them myself.
The Dutch Carbine is missing a slab of wood that attached to the side of the magazine.
x2

I would be happy to have those in my collection.

They look like "honest" examples to me
