Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Why so much

it appears to be from the last block of serial numbers assigned to Springfield of the last batch of rifles they made. (Serial number look-up on Fulton Armory's website). Mine's receiver was made in June of 1942, barrel dated 5-55, if I remember correctly. So, theoretically, mine should be worth at l...

Re: Spurs and the Great West

When I was a kid, we lived in a big 2 story farm house on about 20 acres, which was mostly timbered pasture with 2 big barns and 2 horses. We would feed the horses every day, and muck out the stalls twice a year to get a break on the rent. The landlord and his wife would show up every Saturday to go...

bayonet replacement parts?

Hey guys, I recently came into possession of a rather beat-up bayonet, which is lacking the retaining latch. It appears to be Toyoda Automatic Loom Works manufactured, it has the tip ground flat, is heavily varnished, and has no muzzle ring. I am looking for parts to replace the missing latch. Any i...

Re: Movie rifle anachronism

Speaking of Mosin snipers, the movie Kelly's Heroes, when they are trying to take the Germans out of the town so they can rob the bank, the guy in the tower with the sniper rifle, well, it's a Mosin.

Re: m44 stock question

Thanks to all for the replies. The greenish area is about in the middle of the stock, just about where your cheek would rest when firing. There is also some yellow and brown in there. It's actually kind of pretty. I don't remember seeing any green around the sling slot, and he did not sand the stock...

Re: Universal Background Checks and Crime

Interesting reading. However, as the old saying goes, "figures can lie and liars can figure". Any data can be "repurposed" to whatever the presenter wants it to be. I'm sure we've all seen examples of that. I do agree that no matter how many laws are passed, they will do nothing to stop criminals fr...

Re: Gun Shows: When Did Our World Go Nuts?

I went to a local show 2 weeks ago, basically a waste of time. I saw a Type 38 Arisaka carbine, heavily varnished and crusty, no dust cover and ground mum, asking price $450. A number 4 mark 1, decent shape but the outside of the barrel was pitted, $550. The seller acted like he would of rather been...

Did I miss a story somewhere? I didn't know a slide-fire stock was used in Florida? Or is this just a continuation from Vegas?

It's amazing how this subject just keeps going. When I saw the first post I thought "This won't last long; who is interested in this?" It just goes to show how varied the interests are on this forum. Keep 'em coming.

m44 stock question

Hey everybody. I'm trying to do a little research on a stock a buddy has on an M44. When he got it, the stock looked like it was made from a railroad tie, just filthy black. When he got it degreased, you could see a few different colors in it. He got some linseed oil on it, and wow! the colors just ...
