Re: Hoppe's No. 9 vs. Gunzilla

So I would think you got copper in the barrel. Any green patches? Do you use steel brushes causing a black reaction on the patch. I like nylon bore brushes. Do you use a bore brush down the bore at least twice? Do you just clean with a snake or patch? Remember the next day or two to reclean the bor...

Hoppe's No. 9 vs. Gunzilla

Just like 90% of the people out there, I like to use Traditional Hoppe's No. 9 Bench Rest as my bore cleaner. It is cheap and works. The only downside is my wife hates the smell! I live in a small two bedroom apartment and can not safely clean my firearms outside in a "well ventilated area." The bes...

You can find some information on various parts of your Chinese SKS and how to date it here http://www.yooperj.com/SKS.htm

Re: Current Prices for Chinese SKS?

Back about ten years ago I purchased a NIB Arsenal /26\ SKS for $250. Classic Firearms has some well-used but fully functional Chinese SKS rifles for around $350. My 1965 Arsenal /26\. https://i.imgur.com/WOhGCBV.jpg?1 Thank you for your reply! The reason I ask is because I recently purchased a NIB...

Mine will move...can shove it left OR right. I have yet to fix it.
I will check my front sight again for movement but it seemed pretty solid. Just canted. How would one fix this problem?

Please Check Your Carcanos

I went to the range today with my F.A.T 1891/41 Carcano rifle and noticed something when the sun hit my front sight just right... IT APPEARS CROOKED! While looking down the sights it appears canted off to the left. When you are looking down at the muzzle, such as in the picture below, it appears can...

When a group of heavily armed police breaks into your home in the middle of the night to seize your property, there isn't a choice. You comply or die.
The day I am given that order is the same day I turn in my badge.

Re: Fin M91/30

When a "red flag" confiscation was attempted on me, I decided to send nearly all of my accumulation off to auction. Rather have the cash then the state seizes and destroys it all. I did keep one Finn M91/30 out of the 9 various types of MN's I once had. It's the best shooter of the bunch. (We have ...

Re: Type 38 carbine

The Type 99 Arisaka rifle is commonly encountered with defaced mums, however in my experience, I rarely come across a Type 38 with a defaced mum. I think many of these rifles escaped the defacing process for some reason.

Re: Fin M91/30

More than likely the bolt was just thrown together from available parts and you just got really lucky and obtained more Tula pieces than not! There is nothing wrong with that! Those kinds of finds are awesome! That is a very beautiful stock with brass caps on the upper hand guard. The Russian markin...

Re: N.E.W. M91 SA

The Mosin-Nagant rifle was the first rifle my father ever bought for me back when they were being sold for $80 dollars. Because of this, these rifles will always have a special place in my heart. They are by far one of my favorite to collect. I think I have six or so! You have a very beautiful Ameri...

Re: Vz 24 Serial Number Help

I would rather have one like this, actually if I remember correct, I have a 1937 crest one, somewhere? Now I got too look for this since this jogged my brain. https://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?1123115-Vz-24-Japanese-contract-P-series I'll buy this one for $500 and trade it for your crest ...

Re: Vz 24 Serial Number Help

This might be a dumb question, but is this the rifle you are talking about at a crazy price? in the other post: My example is not sharpened thankfully! As for my VZ-24 rifle... I do not have one 😞. My local pawn shop is selling one with extremely nice wood but missing crest for $599. Seems way too ...

Re: Vz 24 Serial Number Help

Thank you for your reply but I read this post already on a different forum. It does not seem to answer my question. The Vz23 information is not relevent from what I can tell and the Vz24 information (related to a D being in front of the serial number) simple states: "In 1937-38 there was... a prefix...
