You can not have an original M1903 MKI and have a low number.
All were high numbers.

Stamps are not usually that small. It appears to be a 03A3 replacement bolt

Maybe the stuff was old. In it's advertisements, it gets hard enough to file and tap, and the stuff I have used gets rock hard too.

My tube of JB weld gets rock hard and if the surface is prepared well and clean, sticks good.

Only the receiver is numbered. Any other numbers are part numbers and you need an in-depth book that will give you want numbers belong in the era of the rifle manufacture. As for parts numbering to the gun serial....no. There were 4 makers of Garands, so one can often see their Garand has mixed manu...

You only have to raise it about .05"...1/20th
I'd go with JB weld because you could peel it off if desired.
