Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Bogart and his pistol collection

The .25 appears to be a Colt 1908 Pocket...VERY cool little mouse gun.

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

The notion that it's all Soviet propaganda held sway for many decades (I'm assuming TNGhost is over 40), but since the fall of the Iron Curtain, access to actual records are now available, and the actual records are showing that the Soviet's clearly designed the AK without any help from the Germans....

Re: Bogart and his pistol collection

Okay who gives a shit about Milano...Let's get back to his collection.

All in all, it looks like a very respectable collection for the day. He clearly had good taste in handguns.

PS...Lauren Bacall beat's pretty much anything in Hollywood today.

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

Well, the evidence is the Russian records and most books written on the subject.
German POW's were returned in 1954, Schmeisser was returned in 1953

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

I'm asking for evidence, you're giving me speculation. And I'm not saying your speculation is completely without merit. But in order for it to be accepted, there needs to be much more evidence. I'm not asserting Kalashnikov himself did everything. I'm asserting (because all the ACTUAL evidence point...

Re: Accuracy

4 MOA sounds awfully tight for a small arm in WWII. The M1 Garand's minimum accuracy standard was 6 MOA. The M14's acceptance standard was 5.6 MOA and that was a decade after WWII. I'll have to look it up, but if I had to guess, the standard was probably more like 6 MOA. Regardless, as Tuna stated; ...

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

Using that logic, the Soviet actually accomplished none of the things they said they did. It has always been assumed the Germans created Russia's best rockets, but we now know that is false. But according to your logic, because they were a communist country, and therefore everything is subject to pr...

Re: Maschinenpistole 44, or MP44

HUGE fan of the MP44. The reason they used such complex stampings was so they could make rifles using low carbon mild steel, as higher grades of steel were getting scarce. If you ask me, the German solution to the steel problem was F..Ing BRILLIANT! Stamping is very difficult to do (especially stamp...

Re: Has anyone here tried the newer plastic

The Moses magazines have worked in my FAL's, and other FAL's that I have tried them in. Including a full auto G1 I have fired using a Moses magazine.

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

First - TNGhost makes a very good case. I believe as he did for a few decades... Kalashnikov thought the rotating bolt was superior to the tilting bolt. The Tokarev Rifle used the tilting bolt (which was later used in the FN FAL), but Kalashnikov felt the Garand rifle was superior to the Tokarev (in...

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

Well, RESPECTFULLY I guess we'll just disagree. I'm an historian, and I don't accept someone's opinion about propaganda as historical fact. The propaganda thing does make sense on the surface though, and I thought the same thing for decades. Unfortunately, it doesn't match actual historical facts in...

Re: This "Schmeisser designed the AK" nonsense...

I have done the math, and it doen't add up. Kalashnikov designed much more than the tank odometer. As it turns out (as we saw after the invention of the AK47), Kalashnikov actually WAS a talented firearms designer, as he remained the leading small arms designer in the Soviet Union for decades. Also,...
