Re: Bayonet Question

The bayonets were numbered to the rifle when issued. Unnumbered bayonets were either unissued or issued to musicians who did not carry a rifle.

Re: Israeli Mauser bayonet questions.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my site.

I don’t know. Israel purchased post-War produced rifles from BRNO, so I’m thinking that the bayonets were post-War production as well. BRNO produced Kar 98k rifles and VZ-24 bayonets post-War. You would want to look for Israeli markings.

Re: Renaissance Wax for protecting metal and wood

Johnson’s Paste Wax is fine. Any non-abrasive paste wax will do. When people ask me what to use, I tell them microcrystalline wax, hard furniture wax, or Johnson’s Paste Wax. Just NO automotive products.

Re: Israeli Mauser bayonet questions.

Israel also used M1924 Mauser Export bayonets and VZ-24 bayonets with their Mausers. There are pics of an Israeli VZ-24 bayonet on the Israel Page of my site.

Re: Show us your favorite bayonet(s)

If I pick a favorite today, it will probably be different next week. Something old; something new.

ca. 1715 Long-Shanked Dutch/Liege Socket Bayonet. It's the oldest socket bayonet that I have (so far).

Re: Show us your favorite bayonet(s)

Thought it would be fun to get a thread going of our favorite bayonets and tell us why you like them as much. I have a tie: WCS - No.5 MkI, still has the green anti corrosion paint and got it for a great price This one has been down under. The scabbard is of Aussie manufacture and the green paint w...

Re: Trying to find a favorite

Don't be too quick to pick a favorite. Often times, an obscure marking or detail will make an otherwise common, run-of-the-mill, bayonet something really special. Take your time and go through the whole box. However, beware! Bayonets can be addictive!
