Mosin Tool ?

Could someone explain the uses of the Mosin Tool. The flat blade for the action screws I get. And also the slots for firing pin protrusion. Any others ?

Cold Weather Shootin

I bundled up warmly and hit the range +12 degrees , with my 49/56. Low wind and not bad... I fired off 2 mags of my handloads and it scored as well as it does in "warmer" weather. It does 2/12-3 inches at 100 yds. AND then another guy came onto the range and he had a M1a. When he looked over at my r...

Re: #4Mk2 Accuracy Adjustments ?

It was a out of the wrap & de-cosmoed new #4 Mk2 Fackersley. I removed the rear sight [and carefully saved the parts] and mounted a scope. No bedding-yet. Out last fall it did a 2" and maybe a bit better at 100yds with a 174gr Hornady hpbt Match with 37.7 gr of IMR 4064 at 3.075 col. I did a bit of ...

#4Mk2 Accuracy Adjustments ?

What can be done to a #4Mk2 to help it get its best accuracy ? I am thinking along the lines of stock and or barrel shimming and action torque specs. Its already pretty accurate. I like bringing out the best in a firearm which is why I ask. Thanks for any ideas.

A ROSS !

Does a Ross rifle fit in here ? I just acquired a 1905 Ross Sporter - Mk2 Sporter I guess,From a friend. It has been hanging on the wall of his shop for a few years. Upon restoration I encountered one of the most fouled barrels I have encountered. I HAD to resort to a steel bore brush. 115 years or ...

Heavier Bullets

I have not tried any bullets over 150grs in my 7.5x54 loads for my 49/56. Has anyone loaded heavier bullets and had good accuracy with them ?

Re: 7.62 NATO Garand Question

Ya, I understand what you said Dale. I guess I am a bit leery that it MIGHT have that insert. I have never read of one ejected out with the case but have read it can happen. I think I will buy it as I cant see an insert with a close look with a bore light.

7.62 NATO Garand Question

I have a question on a 7.62 chambered Garand. The barrel chamber is stamped T 7.62NATO M11. What I would like to know is if it has one of the navy 7.62x51 chamber inserts . How do you tell if its in there ? I don't see anything that would look like one. What got me thinkin is that the chamber part o...

MAS 36 winter cleaning

I tore down my mas 36 for a detail clean and maybe a go at a better trigger. I did a light polish job on the trigger contact surfaces. Had a heck of a time getting the trigger group to receiver pin back in. I even used a pin sized punch as a slave pin and finally got it in. Re-assembled the rifle an...

.308 49/56 again

I purchaced both of my 49/56's in 2002. The first was in 7.5x54. A week later I saw one in .308 win. and bought it too. As many of you know the monkey converted .308's were 90% bummer. The 7.5 one ran perfectly. The .308 was ripping the rims off the brass from the start. And I thought the action upo...
